When I am not listening to Queen, I enjoy listening to Carole King’s legendary album Tapestry.
Like Queen, much of her music is incredibly positive and uplifting. One in particular called “Beautiful”, which opens with these lyrics:
You've got to get up every morning
With a smile on your face
And show the world all the love in your heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You're gonna find, yes, you will
That you're beautiful, as you feel
And she is absolutely spot on – face the day with a big smile despite the chaos going on, and you will be treated in kind by those around you.
How awesome would it have been if Queen did a cover of a positive Carole King song!
Which brings me to my next little-known Queen fact.
Queen’s first-ever single included a cover of Carole Kings Goin’ Back under the pseudonym of Larry Lurex (as this was released in 1973 prior to Queen’s first album)
It describes the loss of innocence that comes with adulthood and how to recapture that youthful innocence to live life as an adult.
“I can play hide and seek with my fears
And live my days instead of counting my years”
