Yesterday marked the 31st Anniversary of Freddie Mercury’s death So I thought I would share another inspirational Queen story about never giving up! This time an Aussie true blue one….. In 1974, Queen travelled to Australia to perform at the Sunbury Pop Festival in Victoria. They had released their first album, and this was one of the first concerts they performed as Queen. The Sunbury Pop Festival was an annual rock music event that ran for four years between 1972 and 1975 and was promoted as Australia’s version of Woodstock After Queen had finished their first encore, the announcer came on stage and asked the crowd: "D'you want anymore from these pommie bastards or do ya want an Aussie rock band?" Queen quit the stage to boos and calls of `go back to Pommyland, ya pooftahs!' Freddie Mercury responded by declaring, "When we come back to Australia, Queen will be the biggest band in the world!" – and true to form, when they returned in 1976, they were one of the biggest acts on the planet. Finally, did you know that 4 years ago, artist Danielle Weber created an amazing giant 16m x 18m mural of Queen in Sunbury on Sunbury Road? #200Ignites #QueenFact AdaptivOrg + Seisma SEISMA GROUP
